The 17th Annual Meeting of the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS) will be held Thursday-Saturday, October 25-27, 2007, in Canberra, Australia.
Special Interest Groups Day will be held Sunday, October 28, 2007. This will include "A Day for Teachers," "A Day for Physiotherapists and Other Allied Health Professionals," and "A Day for Dance Movement Researchers." A Post-conference Day will be held in Melbourne on Monday, October 29, 2007.
This exciting multidisciplinary conference will focus on improving dancers’ health, well-being and performance. Participants can attend lectures, forums, workshops, movement sessions, exhibits, small group sessions, and poster presentations. Special Interest Groups Day will focus on particular interest groups including dance teachers and others involved in dancers’ health and well-being.
The conference venue will be the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), Canberra. As the pre-eminent elite sports training and research institution in Australia, the AIS is widely acknowledged as a world best practice model for elite athlete development. The AIS’ collaboration with the world of dance is well-established, especially in the fields of research, health care and career transition.
For those wishing to continue on to Melbourne, a special post-conference day will include open-houses at The Australian Ballet School, The Australian Ballet and Victorian College of the Arts.
