The Dance Educators' Committee promotes communication and education for dance teachers, dance students, parents, dancers, and the medical and other health practitioners who provide their care. The committee develops resource papers, fact sheets, and posters to disseminate information on safe, healthy dance education practices and on lifestyle choices that prolong dance careers. The Bulletin for Dancers and Teachers, an online publication, helps teachers to ensure that their practice is in line with current scientific knowledge.

One of the committee’s major functions is to produce A Day for Teachers, a special meeting geared to the needs of dance teachers. This important event follows the IADMS Annual Conference each year.

Resources for Teachers
IADMS strives to provide dance teachers all over the world with access to valuable information and resources. Well-informed dance teachers can enable dancers to dance longer and stronger. It is in the studio that future generations of dancers are born, either for the professional theater or for recreational pleasure. By keeping dance teachers up-to-date with the best medical and scientific information, we hope to facilitate the life-enhancing joy of dancing and enable professionals to enjoy longer and healthier dancing careers.
